Innovation and STEM Learning in Action: A Two-Day Teacher Orientation Workshop (August 29-30, 2026)

In collaboration with Lokmanya Education Society, iRISE successfully conducted a two-day Orientation Workshop for 107 teachers representing 75 schools. The workshop provided teachers with an opportunity to refresh their understanding of experiential learning and explore practical ways of making classroom learning more engaging, meaningful, and connected to real-life experiences.

The workshop was inaugurated and enriched by the inspiring guidance of Dr. Vishnupant Misale, ISRO Scientist, who encouraged teachers to adopt experiential and hands-on approaches in their classrooms. His interaction motivated teachers to move beyond traditional teaching methods and create opportunities for students to learn through exploration, experimentation, observation, and problem-solving. Dr. Kiran Thakur also interacted with and motivated the teachers, encouraging them to embrace innovation and bring more activity-based learning into their classrooms.

Throughout the two days, teachers enjoyed exploring, learning, and refreshing their ideas through a range of low-cost, hands-on, and innovation-based activities. The sessions demonstrated how simple and easily available materials can be transformed into effective teaching-learning resources and used to explain different concepts in an engaging way.

A key highlight of the workshop was the exploration of the iRISE Innovation and STEM Education Kit, which has been provided to the participating schools. Teachers explored the activities in the kit and discussed how they could be connected with concepts from the school syllabus and implemented with students. This helped teachers see the kit not simply as a collection of materials, but as a resource for encouraging curiosity, creativity, experimentation, and conceptual understanding.

The workshop marked an important step towards strengthening experiential and innovation-based STEM education in schools. With motivated teachers, hands-on resources, and continued support, the programme aims to create more opportunities for students to learn by doing, think creatively, and connect classroom concepts with the world around them.
